Academic Defense Assistant|All-in-One
Upload your thesis and get editable defense slides, a word-for-word script and a mock committee. Proposal, midterm, final or viva covered.
The academic defense assistant turns your thesis into editable slides, a word-for-word script and mock questions, then grills you like a committee. Try it free.
Features
- Truly editable slides——Real DrawingML .pptx generated in a code sandbox — your supervisor can edit every word. Never a fake deck of pasted images.
- Script timed per slide——Total time split across slides, minutes labeled per slide with transition lines. Always know where you are and what to cut.
- Three grill intensities——Warm-up, standard, pressure-test: friendly hints for round one, a realistic committee for round two, no mercy for the final days.
- Only your thesis, cited——No invented references, no fabricated numbers. Every figure traces back to your thesis; gaps are flagged, not filled in.
- Adapts to field & stage——No invented references, no fabricated numbers. Every figure traces back to your thesis; gaps are flagged, and unpublished work stays in this session.
How it works
- Upload your thesis PDF, Word, TXT or Markdown up to 50MB — a full-length thesis is read end to end. Already have slides? Attach them for alignment and rewriting.
- Pick stage and intensity Proposal, midterm, final or viva — the discipline is auto-detected and the mock intensity switches between warm-up, standard and pressure-test.
- Take files, start sparring Download the slides, script and question bank, then spar in chat one question at a time — scored answers with model responses included.
FAQ
- Only a thesis, no slides yet — OK?
- Yes — that is the most common way to use it. Upload the full thesis and the coach builds the outline, the slides, the script and the question bank from it. If you already have slides, attach them too and the script plus mock questions will align with them, with structural problems pointed out.
- What thesis files and sizes work?
- PDF, Word (doc/docx), TXT and Markdown up to 50MB — a full-length thesis is read end to end, and the .pptx plus .docx are generated from that text. If your file is exceptionally long (100+ pages of slides), tell the coach and it will deliver in batches, outline first.
- Proposal, midterm and final all covered?
- Yes. Proposal, midterm, final defense and doctoral viva each get their own structure: proposals focus on significance, gap and method feasibility with no results chapter; midterms on progress versus plan; finals on the full arc plus backup slides; vivas on deep defense of every key decision.
- How do script and timing match slides?
- Your total speaking time is divided across the slides: every script paragraph is labeled with its slide number and minutes, plus transition lines between sections. Anything that overruns gets cut for you — you always know which slide you are on and how long is left.
- Is my unpublished thesis safe?
- It is used only for this session: never shared, never used for training, and the coach says so when delivering. Every number, formula and citation comes only from your thesis — anything not in the text is flagged for you to verify instead of invented.
- Why not just practice with ChatGPT?
- Three differences: it reads your whole thesis instead of working from pasted fragments; it delivers real editable files (.pptx with speaker notes, .docx script) instead of chat text you must reformat; and it plays the committee — weakness report first, then question-by-question sparring with follow-ups, scoring and model answers. No prompt engineering needed.
- Will pressure-test mode make me cry?
- Deliberately tough, but you are never stuck: say 'hint me' any time for a scaffolding angle instead of the answer, and after two stuck answers in a row the coach drops one intensity level. Most students warm up on standard mode and save pressure-test for the final days.
